The W.R. Wright Memorial Cup was donated in March of 1918 in honour of Lieutenant William Richard Wright, who died during the First World War. The Cup is awarded annually for the winner of the Lawn Tennis Tournament. His mother used the money in his bank account after his death to present the large trophy as a gift to the school.

The Turquand Cup for Boxing was given in memory of Lance Corporal Aubrey de Vere Arnold Turquand, the first soldier of Appleby College to give his life in the First World War. This prized trophy was awarded to the heavyweight champion during the annual boxing tournament.

This window was presented on June 24, 1945, by Lady Baillie in tribute to her three sons who served in the Second World War. Designed by Peter Haworth, this window depicts six biblical stories: Lazarus and the Rich Man; the Prodigal Son; the Good Shepherd; the Pharisee and the Publican; the Sower in the Field; and the Good Samaritan.

In the first panel, the upper medallion illustrates the story of Lazaurs and the Rich Man. The lower part portrays the decision of the Prodigal Son to return home. Between the medallions is the Crown of Eternal Life. Placed in the window-head is the lamp - symbol of faith, and the tower - symbol of strength.

The upper medallion of the center panel illustrates the parable of the Good Shepherd. In the lower part, the Pharisee and the Publican are pictured. Between these is the Baillie crest. The star representing guidance, and the sword and breastplate representing the armour of righteousness are pictured in the window-head.

In the third panel, the upper medallion portrays the Sower of the Field. Jesus' exhortation to do as the Good Samaritan has done is depicted in the lower part. Between these is the Book, representing the word of God. On the left side of the tracery is the cross and crown of thorns, in the center is the dove or the Holy Spirit of God. To the right, the resurrection is depicted as a phoenix. These symbols are superimposed on the rainbow, symbol of hope.

In tribute to the three sons of Lady Baillie, the bases of the window represent their three services and have commemorative inscriptions. The left panel represents the 48th Highlanders, the Volunteer Reserve is in the center and the right panel represents the Royal Air Force Ferry Command. Aubrey Baillie (born July 6, 1908 – died July 4, 1992) was part of  the 48^th Highlanders of Canada and was honourably discharged with the rank of captain. Frank W. Baillie (born November 4, 1913 – died December 27, 1980) was a pilot with the Royal Canadian Air Force with the rank of captain. In 1943, he was seconded to the De Havilland Company as an officer in charge of their flight testing program. James W. “Jim” Baillie (born December 1, 1919 – died May 12, 2012) was a lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Navy.

All three boys attended Appleby College. Aubrey, 1918 to graduation in 1927; Frank W., 1922 to graduation in 1931; and James W. “Jim”, 1927 to graduation in 1937. Aubrey and Frank became part of the Appleby College Board of Governors in their later years.

The window above the altar was given in 1928 by Sir Edmund Walker, Appleby College co-founder, in memory of Lady Walker and in honour of the eight boys and one Master who died in the Great War. The window features three full sized figures in armour that represent character and courage: Spartan King Leonidas, a crusader, and Sir Francis Drake.

This window was a special gift from Appleby College students to honour the Old Boys, their fellow students, who died in the Great War. It was unveiled by students E.V. Brown and Geoffery Machell on November 11, 1934. The dedication was made by Reverend Canon H.F.D. Woodcock who knew the boys and master who lost their lives in the war.

Planned, designed and constructed by Peter Haworth of Toronto in 1934, the window’s design is based on Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae’s poem In Flanders Fields. Born in Lancaster, England, Peter Haworth served with the Royal Flying Corps in the First World War where he won the Distinguished Flying Cross.

The Appleby Crest, Arms of Canada and Arms of Great Britain are in the tracery of the window. The left panel depicts the youthful warrior prepared to fight for his country. In the center panel is a symbol of sacrifice - the winged messenger of God brings a victor's crown wreathed with laurel: Victory over Death. In the right panel is a symbol of continuation - the frieze of marching soldiers behind, connects the past with the present, suggesting the continuity of ideals carried on by the school.

The Nativity Window was designed by Peter Haworth in 1947, and given by Herman William and Adela Grace Weis in memory of their son Flight Lieutenant Joseph William Weis, who died in the Second World War. The window depicts the story of the nativity and Jesus Christ. It was dedicated on January 12, 1947, by Reverend R. Renison, Bishop of the Diocese of Moosonee, who also dedicated the baptismal font gifted by Lieutenant Wies' grandmother in memory of her grandson who died in the Second World War.

In 1918, five Old Boys approached the Headmaster at Appleby College to build a school chapel as a memorial to the eight Old Boys and one Master who died in the First World War. The architectural firm of Shepard and Calvin, Toronto designed the chapel and used lake stone for its exterior walls. Construction began in August 1920 and was completed in fall 1929. It was dedicated on November 7 by the Right Reverend the Lord Bishop of Niagara.

In 1967, the chapel was enlarged to accommodate a growing student body. The chapel re-opened in spring 1968 as the John Bell Chapel, in appreciation of Reverend Canon John A.M. Bell, Appleby’s third Headmaster. At this time the chapel was dedicated to those from the college who lost their lives in the First and the Second World Wars.

The Lorne Scots (Peel, Dufferin and Halton Regiment) had three Regimental Churches, one in each location they paraded. The 164th Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force Colours were laid up at the St. Jude's Anglican Church in 1917. 

In earlier times, Colours played a prominent part in many battles. They served to identify units in battle, often marking the focal point of a struggle. Captured Colours were a prized trophy and attracted enemy attention and inspired much gallantry. By the late 19^th and 20^th Century, however, they were no longer carried in battle, but their status as the heart and soul of a Regiment continued, and the laying up of Colours signifies and helps keep holy the memories of the men who sacrificed their lives. 

This Roll of Honour was dedicated to the 198 members of St. Jude's Anglican Church that served in the First World War. Eighteen of them died during their service and are memorialized on a tablet in the church.
