In 1918, Powell’s House residence was named in honour of Major Vernon Harcourt de Butts Powell who was an original teacher at Appleby College from 1911 – 1914. He left in 1914 to join a cavalry regiment, soon transferred to the Canadian Field Artillery and served in the 53rd Battery. He subsequently proved to be among the finest officers, earning the enthusiastic devotion of his men.

He was awarded the Military Cross for conspicuous gallantry at the Battle of the Somme, where he was wounded. In October 1917, he burnt his hands badly in extinguishing a fire among live shells in a gun-pit, his quick action saved many lives. In December of that year, he was severely wounded by an explosion and was evacuated to England, where he died on January 2, 1918, at age 31.

The Second World War Honour Roll, with the names of Appleby College's war dead etched in stone, was added to the Memorial Entrance in 1956.

After the Cadet Corps inspection on May 11, 1956, the Memorial Entrance to the Memorial Classroom Building was dedicated to the memory of the Old Boys who lost their lives in the Second World War. Their names are inscribed on a tablet which was unveiled by David Guest, eldest son of the late J.S.H. Guest, Appleby's co-founder and first Headmaster. The dedication was performed by Reverend Dr. Nicol of Knox Presbyterian Church, Oakville. A First World War Honour Roll was also added to the Memorial entrance.

The Lance Corporal Aubrey de Vere Arnold Turquand Screen and Stalls were donated by his mother in memory of her son who died in the First World War.

This style of an Honour Roll was designed by A.J. Casson when he worked at Sampson-Matthews, a prominent midtown Toronto lithography and commercial art company. It was erected by Appleby College in memory of their students who served in the Second World War.

Memorial Classroom Building officially opened on May 12, 1949, and was built in memory of the 20 Old Boys who died in the Second World War. The building was consecrated in a service of worship and dedication by the Right Reverend W.E. Bagnall, Lord Bishop of Niagara. Warren Beasley, Head Prefect and Cadet Corps Captain, unveiled a plaque commemorating the boys who gave their lives in the war.

The building featured classrooms, science lab, music room, study hall, junior and senior common rooms and offices. In 1956, the Memorial Entrance was added to include the Headmaster's office as well as the First World War (north side) and Second World War (south side) Honour Rolls.

The baptismal font, a gift of Lieutenant Weis' grandmother, Mrs. Grace A. Rolph, was constructed in oak with simple lines, in keeping with the chapel's furnishings. It was dedicated on January 12, 1947, by Reverend R. Renison, Bishop of the Diocese of Moosonee, who also dedicated the stained glass window gifted by Lieutenant Wies' parents in memory of their son who died in the Second World War.

This Roll of Honour was erected in memory of the masters and students of Appleby School who served in the First World War. It was created by Scottish artist James Hamilton Mackenzie; his name and signature are on the bottom left with the number 26 in roman numerals below. During the First World War, James served in the Royal Army Service Corps in East Africa.

Captain Olaf Morris Hertzberg died while serving with the Canadian Intelligence Corps in the Second World War and his mother donated an altar cross, candlesticks and vases in his honour.
