This memorial is listing the names of the students and graduates of the University of Western Ontario who fell in the first World War. The names are listed on parchment paper which contains the university crest and are framed and mounted on the wall beside three other commemorative world war plaques: one in honour of the men from Middlesex County who fell in the First World War, the second listing the names of the University of Western Ontario  students and graduates who served in the Second World War, and the third listing those who served with the No. 10 Canadian General hospital during WWII, the unit raised and equipped by the University of Western Ontario.

In 1944-45, after fighting their way through Belgium, the Allied Forces, with a large proportion of Canadian troops, liberated the Netherlands. More than sixty years later, the Netherlands, and its emigrants worldwide have never forgotten this gift by Canada, who lost near 8,000 soldiers fighting for their freedom and whose bodies still lay in Dutch soil to this day. On September 22, 2006, this memorial was given as a gift from the Dutch Community as an expression of thanks to Canada and its Armed Forces, for their role in the liberation of Holland and Belgium during World War II. It was presented to the WW2 Veterans of Canada and the City of London in Victoria Park. This memorial consists of 3 sections. The first a unique musical Carillon made of 18 bronze bells suspended on a large stainless steel tower. The second element is a granite sculpture at the base of the Carillon showing the locations of Canadian Forces cemeteries in Holland and Belgium, where 7,600 Canadian WW2 graves are located. Thirdly, as is fitting for the Dutch, a beautiful garden has been created to encompass the entire site.

The Cronyn Memorial Window was dedicated on October 9, 1949. It was donated by Dorothy Cronyn in memory of her husband Richard Hume Cronyn who trained soldiers in Canada for the First World War and their son Flight Lieutenant Peter Hume Cronyn, who died during his service in the Second World War.

The window was created by Robert McCausland Limited, Toronto. This three-panel window depicts a large figure of the Resurrected Christ in the center window. Flanking symmetrical lights consist of a large number of angels with two large angels holding the scriptures (one in each window). Christ's image in the center conforms to early modern troupes where Christ is framed by a mandorla and ascending from a closed tomb upon which two guards rest. The closed tomb and sleeping soldiers enhances the miracle of the event.

The church was originally called The Memorial Church and officially opened on December 14, 1873. It was the gift of the Cronyn family in memory of their father Benjamin Cronyn who became the first bishop of the newly created Diocese of Huron in 1857. Bishop Benjamin Cronyn is Flight Lieutenant Peter Hume Cronyn’s great-great-grandfather.

The Battle of the Atlantic Memorial is a tribute to the ships and men of the Royal Canadian Navy, lost in the longest running battle of the Second World War. It is a stunning and moving memorial, created with extreme gratitude for those who made the supreme sacrifice and whose final resting places cannot be marked by graves. The memorial is built into the hillside at HMCS Prevost. A series of 28 blue granite stones traverse the hillside. Each stone is engraved with the name, the image, the hull number and the date the ship was lost during the Battle of the Atlantic. There is also a stone honouring the sacrifice and service of the Merchant Navy. The memorial rests in central Canada as the sailors represented here, who were lost with their ships, came from small towns and large cities, from every province across this great country.

The memorial is illuminated at night, and is accessible. Open from Battle of the Atlantic Sunday (first Sunday in May) until Remembrance Day each year.

These Queen's and Regimental Colours were presented to the 1st Battalion of The Royal Canadian Regiment in 1959 and replaced the set of Colours from 1932. The museum is not sure about the Regimental Colour that came with the Queen’s Colour presented in 1969 and think it may still be in service.

VRI
THE ROYAL CANADIAN REGIMENT

FALLEN COMRADES

We come to a land, under tyrant rule
To help other families, treated so cruel
Leaving our loved ones, a sense of unkown
A world apart, we were flown

Here with a knowledge, and training so great
But knowing inside, some say it's fate
We hope to survive, and do the job right
Whether on patrol, or in a firefight

As soliders in conflict, we risk it all
Always hoping, not to see our friends fall
We block our minds, to the great sacrifice
To have others say, they paid the ultimate price

For our crew, we have seen it all
Several of our friends, they did fall
In the face of an enemy, more like a ghost
But in this place, they are the host

As for our friends, we have said goodbye
But brothers in arms, they will never die
They live in our hearts, till our last days
Then along side them, we shall lay
