"The fine spirit displayed by the men of the Canadian Banks at the time of the Empire’s need was not caused by the war; it was merely made manifest.  It is the same spirit that before the call to arms found its expression in unswerving loyalty to the institutions with which they were connected."

Canada's Aid to the Allies and Peace Memorial is a 152 page post First World War publication focusing on what the various provinces, people, and companies did to help the Allied cause during the war. It was published in Montreal shortly after the end of the First World War in a large magazine-style format. The publication includes the Great War Roll of Honor for Bank of Hamilton.

Library and Archives Canada has a preservation copy of Canada's Aid to the Allies and Peace Memorial and the Quebec Family History Society has a somewhat damaged copy of this amazing document.

Canada's Aid to the Allies and Peace Memorial is a 152 page post First World War publication focusing on what the various provinces, people, and companies did to help the Allied cause during the war. It was published in Montreal shortly after the end of the First World War in a large magazine-style format. The publication includes the Steel Company of Canada Limited Honour Roll.

Library and Archives Canada has a preservation copy of Canada's Aid to the Allies and Peace Memorial and the Quebec Family History Society has a somewhat damaged copy of this amazing document.

This memorial is a tribute to the mission in Afghanistan and to local soldiers who have lost their lives in the face of duty. The Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV) is decorated with a plaque acknowledging the details of the mission. A granite stone beside the vehicle list those responsible for the memorial and at the front of the LAV vehicle are smaller individual stones dedicated to Canadian Forces personnel who lost their lives in the course of duty.

Light Armoured Vehicles (LAV) III were originally manufactured by Canadians at General Dynamics Land Systems Canada in London, Ontario and were instrumental to troops in carrying out their missions while in Afghanistan. The monuments were created from decommissioned LAV III hulls, donated by the Government of Canada and built by Militex Coating Inc. and Fanshawe College students in London, Ontario.

On November 5, 2014, the Canada Company Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV) lll Monument Program was launched to recognize the 40,000 Canadians Armed Forces who served in Afghanistan and to commemorate the 162 Canadians who lost their lives. The program closed after awarding 33 monuments to communities across Canada.

This park is named in memory of Sergeant Shawn Allen Eades.

Shawn Allen Eades was born on 26 March 1975 in Hamilton, completing his high school education in Portage La Prairie, MB. At the nage of 17, he enrolled in 26th Field Artillery Regiment in Portage but on 9 June 1994 joined the Regular Force as a Field Engineer. He completed his engineer training at The Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering in Chilliwack before being posted to 1 Combat Engineer Regiment. He accompanied the Regiment in the move to its new home in Edmonton where he was employed in various capacities in the field troops. Shawn completed numerous field engineer, leadership, explosive ordnance disposal and counter-IED courses while at 1 CER and deployed on four operational tours. In 1999, he was a member of Task Force Kosovo in Pristina, Serbia followed by his first tour in Afghanistan. In his two subsequent deployments to Kandahar, he took on leadership positions, first as an Improvised Explosive Device Disposal (IEDD) section commander and as a recce NCO during his last tour. It is during this latter deployment that Sergeant Shawn Eades was killed on 20 August 2008, along with two colleagues, when a roadside bomb detonated near their armoured vehicle on a notoriously dangerous section of a highway in Zharey District, south east of Kandahar. Sergeant Shawn Allen Eades is buried at the National Military Cemetery at Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa.
