This cenotaph was erected and unveiled in 1956 to commemorate the veterans from La Baie des Ha Ha killed in action during the wars of 1914-18 and 1939-45 and the Korean War (1950-53). It was donated by the board of trade of La Baie des Ha Ha to the City of Port Alfred. In 1976, the towns of Port Alfred, Grande Baie and Bagotville were amalgamated to form Ville de La Baie, which now oversees the site maintenance. The cenotaph is a moving tribute to the immortal dead to whom we owe honour and peace.
