Mr. Grossinger talks about the nightmares and flashbacks he has had and how it has affected his life, after the war in Afghanistan.

Having recently experienced his first Remembrance Day as a retired servicemen and Veteran, Mr. Johnston recalls being impressed by the spirit of remembrance displayed by youth.

Mr. Johnston delivers a message to youth, passing on his belief that we as Canadians are responsible for defending the safety of our nation, and the freedoms for which it stands, in whatever way necessary.

Mr. Johnston looks back on his service, reflecting on how daily life as a retiree is so different from his time in the service, and how much he was away from home.

Mr. Johnston describes the difference between Provide Comfort and Northern Watch missions which he participated in during the Gulf War.

Mr. Johnston recalls the extremely high level of pre-conflict preparations he went through with the Americans before being deployed to the Gulf as part of a joint AWACS force.

Mr. Johnston recounts his duties as an AWACS Mission Crew Commander in the Gulf War.

Mr. Johnston describes AWACS, covering some of it’s history and use in different countries, and some of it’s technical and mechanical uniqueness.

Mr. Johnston recalls how he became posted on an American base as part of a joint Canadian/American force. He also comments on the differences in Canadian and US military equipment.
