This memorial, erected by Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 82, is dedicated to the local war dead of the First and Second World Wars. Plaques are also presented to commemorate the seventy-fifth anniversary of the province of Alberta (1905-80) and the seventieth anniversary of the founding of the town of Daysland (1907-77). A local stonesman who has immigrated to Daysland from Denmark after the Second World War, volunteered to do the construction with community assistance. Following the Zone Rally in October 1981, the flame was lit by Mayor Ron Damberger, the Cenotaph was unveiled and a dedication service was conducted. In June 2005 two thirty foot flagpoles were added.

In 1925, the memorial clock was dedicated by the Walter Musson Charter, The Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire, to the men that fought and were lost in World War I. Mr. Frank Balley was the stonemason who built this tower and also did the architectural design for it. The stones were gathered by the school children from town and also farmers bringing in some when they came to town. They say most of the rocks that the school children gathered were from Norman Cooper's farm a little ways east of town. The clock that was installed into this Cenotaph came from England and was run from batteries until the main street was paved in 1958-1959 when it was changed over to electric.
