THIS WAR MEMORIAL WINDOW IS THE GIFT OF THE MEMBERS
OF THIS CHURCH AS A THANKSGIVING TO ALMIGHTY GOD
FOR THE GREAT VICTORIES OF THE WAR YEARS AND FOR THE
PEACE. IT ALSO STANDS AS A TRIBUTE TO THOSE PARISHION-
ERS WHO ENLISTED IN ONE OR BOTH OF THE WARS OF 1914-1918
AND 1939-1945, SOME OF WHOM PAID THE SUPREME SACRIFICE.

IN THE CENTRE OF THE WINDOW WE SEE OUR LORD ROBED
IN PRINCELY GARMENTS, RECEIVING WITH TENDER GRACE AND LOVE
A KNEELING KNIGHT WHO SYMBOLIZES THOSE WHO SERVED SO
FAITHFULLY IN THE ARMED FORCES OF THE KING.

ON THE RIGHT OF THE CENTRAL FIGURE WE HAVE ST. PAUL,
THE PATRON SAINT OF THIS CHURCH. THE BOOK HE HOLDS REMINDS
US OF HIS LETTERS WHEREIN HE PICTURES THE CHRISTIAN SOLDIER,
THE SWORD TELLS OF HIS "GOOD FIGHT" AND HIS MARTYRDOM FOR
THE FAITH. ON THE LEFT IS SEEN THE YOUTHFUL ST. GEORGE WITH
HIS HISTORIC BANNER, ELOQUENT OF CHRIST'S SACRIFICE.
HE EXEMPLIFIES THAT SPIRIT OF CHRISTIAN CHIVALRY AND
DEVOTION TO DUTY MANIFEST STILL IN OUR YOUTH OF TO-DAY.

IN THE VERY CENTRE OF THE TOP ARCH OF THE WINDOW
CAN BE SEEN A SMALL MEDALLION, YELLOWISH IN COLOUR. THE
SAME IS A LINK WITH THE FIRST GREAT WAR, BEING A FRAG-
MENT FROM THE STAINED GLASS WINDOW OF CAMBRAI CATHE-
DRAL, FRANCE.

ON EACH SIDE FLANKING THE CENTRE ARCH THE BADGES OF
THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ARE REPRESENTED.- ON THE LEFT
THE ROYAL CANADIAN NAVY, THE ROYAL CANADIAN ARMY,
AND THE ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE
AND ON THE RIGHT
THE WOMEN'S ROYAL NAVAL SERVICE, THE
CANADIAN WOMEN'S ARMY CORPS AND THE WOMEN'S DIV-
ISION (ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE).

IN THE LOWER REACHES OF EACH LANCET ARE THE CROSS AND
THE CROWN, THE CANADIAN COAT OF ARMS, AND THE ARMS OF
ONTARIO. THIS WINDOW, THE WORK OF ROB'T. MCCAUSLAND, LTD.
AND THE BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE BELOW IT, THE WORK OF
MR. CHAS. GOODE OF ISLINGTON, ONT., WERE UNVEILED ON SUNDAY
NOVEMBER 10TH, 1946 BY THE WARDENS OF THE CHURCH, MESSRS.
J. ROSS LAWRENCE AND FRED T. DELGATY, AND DEDICATED BY
THE RECTOR OF THE PARISH, THE VENERABLE C. WILFRED BALFOUR,
M.A. ARCHDEACON OF ALGOMA, THE PREACHER BEING H/CAPT.
THE REV. CYRIL H.G. PETO, RECTOR OF PARRY SOUND, ONT.

THIS TABLET COMMEMORATES THOSE IN THE SERVICE
OF THE CANADIAN PACIFIC RAILWAY COMPANY WHO
AT THE CALL OF KING AND COUNTRY LEFT ALL THAT
WAS DEAR TO THEM, ENDURED HARDSHIP, FACED DANGER
AND FINALLY PASSED OUT OF SIGHT OF MEN BY THE
PATH OF DUTY AND SELF SACRIFICE. GIVING UP THEIR

LET THOSE WHO COME AFTER SEE TO IT
THAT THEIR NAMES BE NOT FORGOTTEN.

The Canadian Pacific Railway Great War Tablet in the Thunder Bay Station was dedicated on April 28, 1922.

To honour those who served and gave their lives during the Great War, the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) erected a series of bronze memorial tablets in over twenty select locations along their railway system and offices in Canada, United States, England and China. The tablet depicts Britannia, the national personification of Britain, as a helmeted female warrior with a lion to her right and a shield at her feet, HMS Lion (Admiral Beatty's flagship during the Battle of Jutland) with airplanes above and a tank in front, Canadian Pacific Steamship RMS Empress of Russia (used during the war as an armed merchant cruiser and transport ship), Canadian troops, and a CPR locomotive in a nod to all those who travelled by train across Canada before heading overseas. The plaque was designed by Archibald Pearce, Chief Engineer's Department, Montreal, with its model and casting by the Bromsgrove Guild at Worcester, England.
