Enlistment and Travel Overseas

Transcript
The war was declared at that time so I was very interested in joining so I applied. And in the mean time I did some staff nursing at several hospitals. I think it was looking for adventure and also friends joining at the same time. I went overseas I guess in 1942 and I was in Camp Borden from October 1940 until I went overseas. Interviewer: And did you sail over in a hospital ship or in a convoy? I went in a very large convoy and I found that very awe inspiring. Interviewer: To see all the other ships? Oh tremendous number of ships and also was exciting to see how they manoeuvred you know. It was a very busy Atlantic from with enemy attacks going on you know and action stations going on. Interviewer: And doing all your drills. Yes and drills and what not. And so I guess we went north to Iceland and across to England.
