Well, it must have been very hard for the patients, I don't know but the screaming that went on. You know, taking off the bits of pieces. I don't think the people knew exactly how bad it was going to be to put tannic acid on them, made them all brown. It did save them, it kept the fluid in, it kept the germs from going in but it was like tanning them. It was just like making their skin just like leather and that all had to be picked off, and that was terrible for them. So we were busy making tugra and things like that; Vaseline impregnated with different things and these bandages, putting them, sterilizing them in the autoclave and things like that. It was a very good experience actually.
