The Candlelight Tribute is an annual Veterans’ Week event planned collaboratively between Veterans Affairs Canada and the Canadian War Museum.
This meaningful event brings everyone together to honour the service, sacrifices, and resilience demonstrated by all those who have served Canada.
The theme for Veterans Week 2024 is Canadian Armed Forces Around the World. To highlight this years’ theme, Veterans Affairs Canada will pay tribute to the Canadians who have deployed to dozens of countries to take part in wars, conflicts, peacekeeping missions, humanitarian operations and other military efforts, in addition to the many important duties they perform here at home.
The candlelight procession is a central component of the ceremony, which symbolizes transferring peace from one generation to the next and honouring the service of all those who have defended our country during times of conflict and peace.
