Invictus Games 2025
The Invictus Games 2025 will take place 8-16 February 2025 in Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia. More than 500 Veterans and still-serving military personnel from more than 20 nations, including more than 50 members from Team Canada will compete in nine winter and indoor adaptive sports.
About the Invictus community
The Invictus Games are an international sporting event for wounded, injured and ill Veterans and still-serving armed forces members. The Games use the power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and generate a wider understanding of, and respect for, all those who serve their country.
Veterans Affairs Canda (VAC) supports the Invictus Games as our mandate aligns with their focus on rehabilitation, mental health support, employment advocacy, and general well-being for Veterans, still-serving members of the military community and their families.
The Invictus community recognizes the important role that families and friends play in supporting the recovery journey of ill and injured Veterans and service members. Two family members or friends are invited along side each competitor at every Games.
As both a host and participating nation, Canada is part of a global community where organizations like VAC, the Invictus Games Foundation, True Patriot Love Foundation, and Soldier On can share information, promote programs and services, and engage in an ongoing conversation on issues related to Veteran and military well-being, include friends and family.
Behind the bid
The first Invictus Games were held in London, UK in 2014 and have now taken place in 6 times in 5 different countries, including Toronto, Canada in 2017. The Invictus Games 2025 will be the 7th iteration of the Games and the first-ever to include adaptive winter sports.
Canada was selected as the 2025 host country by the Invictus Games Foundation (IGF) in 2022, following a successful bid by the True Patriot Love Foundation which was supported by the Federal and Provincial Governments.
The bid was submitted in partnership with the Four Host First Nations (FHFN) which represents the Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəyəm), Squamish (Sḵwxwú7mesh), Tsleil-Waututh (səlilwətaɬ) and Lil’wat (Lilwat7úl) Nations who will host the Games on their traditional territories.
The partnership with the FHFN will ensure that the Nations achieve sustainable benefits for their communities, and that their languages, traditions, protocols, and cultures are meaningfully acknowledged, respected, and represented in the planning, staging, and hosting of the Games.
Government of Canada investment
The Government of Canada and the Government of British Columbia are each providing $15 million to support Invictus Games 2025. Federal funding for the Games is being provided by Veterans Affairs Canada through a contribution agreement with the Vancouver-Whistler Games Corporation (Invictus Games 2025), the not-for-profit entity that was incorporated to manage the planning and operations of the Games.
Veterans Affairs Canada is providing an additional $1 million in funding to Soldier On to support the participation of Canadian Veterans at the Games.
Soldier On and Team Canada
The Soldier On program manages Team Canada’s participation in the Invictus Games and Warrior Games.
Team Canada has competed at every Invictus Games since the inaugural Games in 2014, most recently with a team of 31 competitors at the Invictus Games 2023 in Düsseldorf. In 2025, Team Canada is proudly represented by 56 Veterans and still-serving CAF members.
Soldier On is a program of the Canadian Armed Forces Transition Group (CAFTG) which contributes to the recovery of ill and injured CAF members and Veterans by providing opportunities and resources to engage in sport, recreational, and creative activities.
