In the years following World War II, many Canadian military members served with units of the British Military. As was the situation with the Canadians serving in continental Europe, there were deaths among its members - many from training accidents. The Canadian military members were buried in cemeteries throughout the United Kingdom, generally close to where they died.
Helston is a town in the County of Cornwall located on the A394 highway between Falmouth and Penzance. It is one of the ancient coinage towns of Cornwall where the tin ingots were taken to be weighed to assess the duty payable to the Duke of Cornwall. Helston is one of the least changed of all Cornish towns yet still manages to have all the facilities of a modern town.
Helston’s County Cemetery has a Naval Section which is maintained by HMS Seahawk which is the Royal Navy Air Station at Culdrose, Helston. It is the resting place of Acting Sub-Lieut. Ian Robertson who, as the time of his death, was assigned to HMS Seahawk.
