Son of J. Samuel and Anne Theresa (née Jackson) Sandercock of St. Marys, Ontario.

Bill joined the service with his father Samuel and his brother Private James Cecil Sandercock, who died while serving with the 4th Canadian Mounted Rifles. Samuel was the only one to come home. Bill was survived by four brothers, Charles Wilbert, Frank Rayfield, Harry and Percy John and one sister, Myrtle Louisa.
