Location:

Leubringhen is a village in the Department of the Pas-de-Calais, halfway between Calais and Boulogne. The Calais Canadian War Cemetery is in Leubringhen and is situated on the east side of the Calais-Boulogne road, 14 kilometres from Calais. From Calais leave the motorway at junction 9 and turn left onto the N3-E402 toward St Inglevert. Proceed through the village and immediately after, turn first left over motorway bridge and follow the road for approximately 250 metres. The Calais Canadian War Cemetery will be found on the left.

  • Photo of Harry James Sherlock– Rifleman Sherlock joined the Queen's Own Rifles Band as a twelve-year old.  He became a part of the 2nd (Reserve) Battalion in June 1942 and was sent to England in late 1942.  Rifleman Sherlock served in Support Company and survived D-Day and the Normandy campaign.  He was killed in the attack on Calais.
  • Obituary– This obituary of Rifleman Sherlock was obtained by Mrs Josie McQuade from a Toronto newspaper in 1944.
  • Gravemarker– This photo of Rifleman Sherlock's gravemarker at the Calais Canadian War Cemetery in Leubringhen, France, was taken by Padre Cameron in June 1997.
