Photo of Andrew Baird – University of Manitoba Roll of Honour 1914-1918. Winnipeg, 1923. Roll of the Fallen (pg. 17) - "BAIRD, Andrew Stuart: B.A. 1912; Enlisted 1-11-15; Lieut. 90th Battn.; Transferred to 14th Battn.; Service in France; Killed in Action 8-10-18." Note: the date of death in this short biographical note included an error with Lt. Baird's date of death. The 14th Battalion War Diary entry dated August 8th, 1918: "Early in the day, five very gallant Officers were killed." Lt. Baird was one of the five listed as killed that day.

Canteen – While Lt. Baird was originally given a Commission in the 90th Battalion C.E.F. as was my Grandfather who would become Capt. N. J. D'Arcy MC they always considered themselves to be 90th Battalion Winnipeg Rifles, the "Little Black Devil's", something my grandfather was as it dates to the Northwest Rebellion of 1885 and he served. with them. I have a Stainless Steel Canteen with both the "Little Black Devil's" insignia stamped on it as well as A.S.BAIRD 90th Batt. On Feb 11, 1928 my father Norman "Stuart" D'Arcy was born having been named after my grandfather's best chum Andrew "Stuart" Baird. It will be donated to the Royal Winnipeg Rifles Museum in time for remembrance day 2015
