Son of Lieutenant Reginald Basil Hingston, who died during service with the Canadian Infantry (Quebec Regiment) and Berthe Hingston, of Montreal, Quebec. Husband of Dorothy Bernice Hingston, of Montreal, Quebec.

Basil Hingston was a member of the Royal Canadian Infantry Corps, he died while serving with the South Staffordshire Regiment as a CANLOAN Officer.
