Son of Daniel and Lena Forestell (1958 National Memorial (Silver) Cross Mother), of Coniston, Ontario. Brother of Bernard Lawrence Forestell.
Flying Officer Forestell held a Bachelor of Science as a Mining Engineer.
Brother of Warrant Officer 2nd Class Thomas Bernard Forestell, Royal Canadian Air Force, killed while on a navigation exercise in Canada on March 20, 1944 and Warrant Officer 2nd Class Daniel Arthur Forestell, Royal Canadian Air Force, killed in action on 5 April 1943.

Barbatre is a village on the island of Noirmoutier, which is situated off the west coast of France and 32 kilometres south of the mouth of the River Loire and 76 kilometres west of La Roche-sur-Yon, the chief town of the Department of Vendee. Barbatre Churchyard is about 2 kilometres from the end of the causeway. The War Graves are to the right of the central crucifix.
