Born in Avon, Ontario in 1915, and raised in Georgetown, Ontario. Son of the Revd. Joseph Fletcher Sutcliffe, B.D., LL.D., and Agnes Bertha (née Mossip) Sutcliffe of St. Marys, Ontario. Husband of Blanche Olive Sutcliffe, of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. Cousin of Lieutenant Harrison Taylor Mossip of the Royal Canadian Air Force who lost his life on March 7, 1945. Flying Officer Sutcliffe is commemorated on a bronze plaque located on the cenotaph in St. Marys, Ontario.
