Son of John H. Williston and Katherine MacLeod Williston, of Sydney, Nova Scotia. His brother David Archibald Williston had also served with the Royal Canadian Air Force and died on August 4, 1943.

Location:

The BERLIN 1939-1945 WAR CEMETERY is in the district of Charlottenburg, 8 kilometres west of the city centre, on the south side of the Heerstrasse. From Theodor Heuss Platz in the district of Charlottenburg near the exhibition hall complex and next to the Olympic stadium, follow signs for Spandau, proceeding along the Heerstrasse. The Cemetery lies on the Heerstrasse on the left hand side of the road and 3 kilometres from Theodor Heuss Platz. Visitors should drive beyond the BERLIN 1939-1945 WAR CEMETERY to the traffic lights, then turn left directly onto a small one way street running parallel to the Heerstrasse. The Cemetery entrance is on this small one way road.

F/Sgt. Albert Alexander Williston, age 26, was killed on January 21, 1944, when 514 Squadron Lancaster LL672, in which he was tail gunner, was shot down near Magdeburg, Germany, by Major Prinz Heinrich zu Sayn Wittgenstein. Major Wittgenstein's Ju 88 was also shot down. Post-war, Wittgenstein was re-buried in the German Military Cemetery in Northern Holland, and F/Sgt. Williston was re-buried in the Berlin War Cemetery. References to Albert Williston may be found in the biographical work: Laurels for Prinz Wittgenstein, published in England in 1994, and, in an earlier book: Bombers Over Berlin. A major chapter in the book: Through Footless Halls of Air, by Floyd Williston, is devoted to the life, and final flights of F/Sgt. Albert Williston,  and his younger brother, F/Sgt. David Williston.
