  • Newspaper clipping– OBIT # 6246 – EASTERN CHRONICLE (New Glasgow, Nova Scotia) –12 MAY 1942
  • Other– 141 Squadron was operating Beaufighter Mki and were based at RAF Acklington at the time.
Beaufighter I.F - X7568 - flew into the ground at Bowsheil Farm near Ecclaw, Berwickshire on 8th May 1942. The crew appear to be F/Sgt Harold Banford CROUSE (pilot) R.C.A.F. and Charles Alexander FURBANK (observer/radar operator) RAFVR. There is a possibility that F/Sgt. Frank William BODFISH (pilot) RAFVR was also on board, believed to be catching a lift back to base. Although a two man aircraft, it was not unknown for a spare man to stand behind the pilot.
