Son of Daniel Paul and Agnes McIvor, of Carman, Manitoba.
Daniel Paul enlisted on June 22nd, 1915 with the 61st Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force, regimental number 460621, served in England and fought in France and Belgium with the 8th Battalion.
Served with the Winnipeg Light Infantry - NPAM - regimental number S-106, from September 13th to October 5th, 1939, enlisted with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles on June 14th, 1940, transferred on October 25th, 1941 to the 1st Battalion Winnipeg Grenadiers to fight in Hong Kong with C Force. He had 1,497 days of service, including 1,218 overseas.
To commemorate his sacrifice, the Manitoba government named Paul Island located on Lake Granville in his honor in 1995.

YOKOHAMA WAR CEMETERY is 9 kilometres west of the city on Yuenchi-Dori, Hodogaya Ward, which branches left off the old Tokkaido highway. The nearest railway station is Hodogaya, 5 kilometres to the north on the JNR line but the cemetery is easily reached by bus from Yokohama station.
