Baptized Louis-Barthélemi Lamarre. Son of Philomène Gaudreau (deceased in 1885) and Alexis ""Alexandre"" Lamarre (remarried 1887 to Julie Bélanger), of Lowell, Massachusetts.
Mortally wounded in the front line trenches at Hill 70 at Lens, he died of his wounds a few hours later at the Casualty Clearing Station No. 6 at Bruay-La-Bussière.

Barlin is a village about 11 kilometres south-west of Bethune on the D188, between the Bethune-Arras and Bethune-St. Pol roads, about 6.5 kilometres south-east of Bruay. The BARLIN COMMUNAL CEMETERY and EXTENSION lie to the north of the village on the D171 road to Houchin.
