Son of Octave Lavoie and Eugénie Lavoie (deceased in 1902), of Ste-Flavie, Bas St-Laurent, Québec. He had declared that he was born in 1892 when he enlisted.

The battalion was at Wasmes, near Mons, Belgium, when he was stricken with the Spanish flu. On Nov. 14th, 1918, he was rushed to Casualty Clearing Station No. 4 at Solesmes, near Valenciennes, France, and died there of pneumonia five days later.
