Baptized Joseph-Georges-Adélard Brière. Son of George-Alexandre Bruyère-dit-Brière and Célina Tendlin. He married Clérinda « Claire-Ida » Guay in 1908, of Montréal, Québec.
He enlisted twice. The first time, he enlisted under “Joseph Brière” and the second time, he enlisted as “Joseph-André Brière”.
