Son of Arthur Cossar and Caroline Kinslow, of Red Island, Placentia Bay, Newfoundland. Husband of Gertrude Stella Miles, of Ottor’s Point, Newfoundland. Father of five children, including Raymond Dennis and Samuel Miles Cossar.

He drowned accidentally on 15 February 1947 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Canada - Section XX Row F.He was survived by wife Gertrude  (Miles, Maiden name of Ottor's Point, Nfld.) and five children.  All resided in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
