  • Family Marker– Macara family grave marker in Prospect Cemetery:  father, mother, two sons, and one daughter.  Son Ronald was killed in 1945 and is buried in Groesbeek Cemetery.

An RCAF De Havilland Vampire fighter jet 170024 (401 Squadron) crashed half way between Chicoutimi and Quebec City, near Bagotville, on 22 July 1952 following a mid-air collision with an RCAF aircraft Lancaster 102 (of 404 Squadron) during a training exercise (‘Exercise Signpost'). The Vampire pilot, Flight Lieutenant Charles Stewart BUCHANAN, was killed; and there were 7 casualties in the crash of the Lancaster:- Flying Officer Robert Alexander GRAY (Pilot), Flying Officer Joseph Alfred MARIER (Co-pilot), Flying Officer Edward Charles William HUTT, Flying Officer Richard Heather Duffield NOBLE (Navigator), Flying Officer James Ernest MACARA (Radio Operator), and Corporal Robert Gerald SMITH (Flight Engineer).
