Son of Frederic J. and Angele M. (née Boudreau) Landry. Alexandre was the second eldest of eight children. The times during the early 1900s were very hard for the Acadians in the northeastern part of New Brunswick. Many people lived in poverty, on very small farms and by fishing. The United States was in need of cheap laborers for their mills, etc. so many young men and women left for the New England states where they could find work.
