Dreams Come True
This is submitted by Elaine Stoesz, an Area Counsellor in Saskatoon. It is a story from Winnie Cadieu.
"In August 1944 my dream came true, I was 18 years old and off to join the RCAF - W.D.
I reported to Rockcliffe, Ontario, for Basic Training, quite an experience for a farm girl from Northern Saskatchewan, who had never been to the city.
After six weeks of many hours marching and many innoculations, I was sent to Toronto to train as a Clerk Typist. We managed to see a lot of Eastern Canada and I made a lot of good friends.
When my training was over I was posted to Brandon, Manitoba, to Headquarters staff which I enjoyed very much.
In the summer of 1944 I received a Medical Discharge for a recurring medical condition. My short stay in the Air Force was very exciting and rewarding."
