A Smile on one’s Face!

In many ways it’s just the smile on people’s faces when they see you and that sense that no matter how long it’s been since you’ve seen them or what anyone has been through, you know, you’re just kind of content and it’s like you’ve been friends forever, you know, like you’ve distances of time really don’t mean anything, you know, like it’s an instant reconnection. It’s hard to describe but it’s as though you hadn’t stopped talking all the way through. Overseas it was nice just to see people and see a smile on a friendly face and people who were interested in you being successful and coming back in one piece. That was something you really felt. The sense of camaraderie was really, it was something you don’t find in the civilian world, people do not look out for each other the way soldiers do.

Mr. Moroz shares his opinion on the strong sense of friendship amongst the military, something that is not as present in the civilian world.

Vincent Moroz

Mr. Vincent Moroz was born November 12, 1965 in Spirit River, Alberta. In his early 20’s he worked as a prison guard in hopes of pursuing a career with the military police. This not working out, later on in life, at the age of 30 he re-joined the Reserve unit with the 49th Battalion, the Loyal Edmonton Regiment and within this role accepted a deployment to Afghanistan in 2006. Holding rank of section commander, Mr. Moroz held various responsibilities mainly in the convoy escort duty and providing support to Canadian battle groups. Being part of the Canadian Delegation commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge holds a great sense of pride and honour for his service as well as the sacrifice made by all our Canadian Veterans. Mr. Moroz resides in Spirit River, Alberta with his wife and family.
