Photograph of Private George D. Drew's grave in Martintown Ontario (taken October 2013).
Known to his family as Douglas.
He was 17 years old (Born: October 17, 1898) near Mac Gillivray's Bridge Ontario.
His attestation papers were altered to 1897 either during or after enlistment to give the impression that he was 18 years old.
Private Drew died of disease ten days after enlisting with 59th Regiment (Cornwall) which became 154 Canadian Expeditionary Forces battalion.
His death was due to either one of/or both diphtheria (family)/cerebrospinal meningitis (Army tribunals).
His body was brought back from Cornwall by train in an iron coffin with a contained glass top.
His family retrieved the coffin at Williamstown station.
His date of burial is unknown.
