War record of Henry Lewis: Service # 141048
Henry Lewis (his family called him Harry) was born in Muttra Bengal India, the son of a George Lewis (an English Prince of Wales Dragoon Guard) and Elizabeth Cole who were posted in India but originally from Kingsthorpe, Northamptonshire England. The family moved to Hamilton, Ontario around 1907. Henry enlisted in the Canadian Infantry (Eastern Ontario Regiment) 2nd Battalion, 76 Unit on July 28th 1915 in Hamilton, Ontario. Two of his brothers also enlisted.
Henry was wounded in action at the Battle of Canal du Nord, and died from injuries to his legs on September 27, 2018 at the age of 32. Private Henry Lewis is buried in the Cemetery at Bucquoy Road Cemetary Ficheux, Pas deCalais. Grave 71 #33.
In his military Will he left everything "to my wife Mrs Elizabeth Edith Lewis, 42 Rosemont Ave., Hamilton On." He left behind his wife and young son, George, 3 brothers, 1 sister and his mother.

CIMETIÈRE DE LA ROUTE DE BUCQUOY Pas de Calais, France
Le cimetière de la route de Bucquoy se trouve sur la route D919 allant d'Arras à Ayette, en direction sud. Le cimetière est du côté droit de la route, à 9 kilomètres d'Arras, juste avant l'intersection avec la route D36 reliant Ficheux et Boisleux-au-Mont.
