This short report of the death of Air Mechanic Crane (though with his initials inaccurately reported) appeared on page 1 of the August 16, 1917 issue of the Barrie Examiner newspaper (Barrie, Ontario). Note: "Camp Hoare" was the Royal Flying Corps airfield at Camp Borden, west of Barrie, named in honour of Lieutenant-Colonel (later Brigadier-General) C.G. Hoare, the commanding officer of the RFC in Canada.
