Then I went to Kitchener, Ontario, for basic training and that was, I was so homesick and I couldn't really believe the things that we had to do, you know. The long marches that we had to go on and the drills and things like that. I hadn't really been subjected to a lot of discipline I guess. And it was... I can remember I had a nice pair of yellow mitts that one of my friends had made for me. They were really quite nice and I wore them with my uniform and I got sharply disciplined for that, wearing those. You know, they seemed, looking back on it now I suppose that I never probably would have stayed in training as a nurse if I hadn't had that army training because I had to obey rules and I think it was good for my, for my discipline.
