Interviewer: Quite a sense of responsibility for a pilot, you have a crew, can you explain that to me?

Well I don't know, everybody, you know, I had a wonderful navigator and the rest of the guys you know, were good at what they did, the wireless operator, and I think you just took it for granted. Didn't talk about it much because everyone else was doing the same thing.

Interviewer: Is there one certain battle can we say, that you recall being in flight and participating in, that stands out than any other?

Oh, not really except a couple of these incidents with thunder storms and things like that. I had to turn back once with, I had a, I'd brought a bunch of fighter pilots out of Burma I think, and because of the weather had clamped on their operations. And I remember having to put my pride in my pocket and turn back because of thunderstorms. You know I felt very responsible for this gang of good guys.

Interviewer: And that was good decision?

Yes it was. We went the next day and made it all right.
