Description
Although never beaten himself, Mr. Edwards shares his view on behaviour within the POW camp.

Ya, I‘ve seen people get beat but generally they had done something wrong to cause it. I imagine because the Germans never bothered too much if you were ok, if you didn’t do nothing wrong.
Interviewer: And so, personally speaking, did you more or less… you did ok?
Ya, I didn’t have no problem. Never got beaten, ever… no. So I don’t think the Germans were too harsh unless, you know like I say, if people done something drastic, they would pay the price. And I think probably lots of days we went through those kinda moods where we were thinking we would never get outta there. But then, of course, when the war ended you were free. That was a great feeling. That was just what you were waiting for all your life there, ya. I think, pretty hard to explain the happiness that caused. Everybody was thrilled that they were getting out and we got back to the British there, you know.
