It’s special to say you almost gave your life for your country. I didn’t get to go to Afghanistan. I wish I could have. I don’t know if it was because I would want to die or that a lot of my brothers in arms passed away, a lot of good friends died over there, you know, a lot of acquaintances because obviously I knew pretty much everybody that passed on, you know. As a soldier you sign on to close with and destroy the enemy by day or night regardless of weather or terrain right? I did kind of do that somewhat but I didn’t fight. That’s what we were there to do. A brain surgeon goes to school for decades to use his hands to work on a brain. He gets into a car accident ten years into it, his training, loses his hands, can’t do it. I couldn’t fight. Couldn’t do my job. When Afghanistan started I was going to go over as a contractor. I wanted to fight. I couldn’t.
