"DIED OF WOUNDS."
Whilst leading his company during operations on 15th September, 1916 and having reached the enemy's front line he was wounded in the stomach by shrapnel. He was given immediate attention and taken to No. 30 Casualty Clearing Station where he died the next day.

CIMETIÈRE DE LA GARE HEILLY, MÉRICOURT-L'ABBÉ Somme, France
Méricourt-l'Abbé est un village situé à 19 kilomètres environ au nord-est d'Amiens et à 10 kilomètres au sud-ouest d'Albert. Le cimetière de la gare Heilly est à 2 kilomètres environ au sud-ouest de Méricourt-l'Abbé, du côté sud de la route menant à Corbie.
