Alec's replacement headstone (1997), the previous headstone recorded his occupation as 'Navigator', which was incorrect. His Spitfire,EP202, stalled while attempting to land after a collision with EN777 (Fl.Lt. Blades). Alec's spitfire crashed in a field just short of the boundry of Angle airfield, South Wales. Despite a brave rescue attempt by Mr. Poole, the NAAFI manger, Alec lost his life as a result of the accident.
