Lieutenant George Joseph Beaumont
World War One memorial tablet, St. Paul's (Anglican), Bloor St. East, Toronto, Ontario. One of two memorial tablets set within a spectacular carved alabaster chancel screen. Erected in memory of the men of St. Paul's who died during the first World War and unveiled in March 1926. Each alabaster tablet incorporates mosaic work depicting kneeling angels holding a laurel wreath and a torch. Seventy-six names in total were listed by date of death. Inscribed: ¿DYING AND BEHOLD WE LIVE¿, and ¿So he passed over, and all the trumpets sounded for him on the other side.¿ (John Bunyan).

Front; Lieut. George J. Beaumont, E. Lancashire Reg't, B.E.F., [symbol of cross] from wounds, France, January 24, 1917. Reverse: George J. Beaumont, Lieut, 11th (S) Batt. Last Lancashire Regt, B.E.F., France. Born 6th July 1892 at Galt, Waterloo Co. Ontario. Died from wounds in France, January 24, 1917. Buried in the British Cemetery at Varennes France. Copy of photo taken in Egypt. Lieut. Beaumont left Canada with the 1st Contingent and afterwards obtained a commission in the British Army in France.

CIMETIÈRE MILITAIRE DE VARENNES Somme, France
Varennes est un village du département de la Somme situé un peu au sud de la route qui va de Doullens à Albert. Il se trouve à 11 kilomètres d'Albert et à 18 kilomètres d'Amiens.
Le cimetière communal est du côté nord de la route menant à Leavillers, à moins d'un kilomètre de l'église de Varennes. Le cimetière militaire se trouve en face du cimetière communal, de l'autre côté d'une petite route.
