Ce style d’un tableau d’honneur a été conçu par A.J. Casson lorsqu’il travaillait chez Sampson-Matthews, une importante entreprise de lithographie et d’art commercial du centre-ville de Toronto.

This cairn is dedicated to the memory of the village of Norgate, the church, the school and in memory of all the pioneers of the district. Also all the boys who left our community to serve in the two world wars, and in special memory of the ones who never returned. 1895 - 1971 July 27, 1985 A.D.

To those who made the supremem sacrifice our honoured few we'll ne'er forget who fought for freedom, lost and yet gave us peace that we enjoy, do rest in peace our district "boys." Ce monument commémoratif est dédié par la population de Beautiful Plains et les habitants de Neepawa à la mémoire des soldats qui servirent pendant les deux guerres mondiales et la guerre de Corée.
En 1920, la firme canadienne William A. Rogers Limited Company publia un catalogue répertoriant des modèles de monuments commémoratifs, dont celui d’un soldat surdimensionné vêtu d’une capote. Selon le catalogue, cette firme fut, à l’époque, la seule fonderie de bronze au Canada qui eût réussi à produire un modèle de cette taille. La statue est un moulage fait à partir d’un modèle de Nicolas Pirroton, un sculpteur de Saint?Boniface.
