Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia
André Boudreau has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for 13 years as secretary and commander for Zone 12.
He is a strong advocate for dedicated Veterans’ beds in long term care homes, and meets with local politicians to advocate for Veterans of all eras.
Six years ago, he helped start a coffee group for those dealing with an Operational Stress Injury (OSI). This group has greatly impacted the lives of many Veterans, bringing them together in a safe space among peers. He continues to be a spokesman for the group and his dedication has helped this group’s continued success.
He has also organized and emceed many commemorative events. These include the annual National Peacekeepers’ Day for the past three years, OSI rucksack marches for three years, which have attracted hundreds of participants, Korean War events and annual Remembrance Day services.
Mr. Boudreau is also in touch with many elderly Veterans in the Yarmouth area, visiting them to check in and make sure their needs are met.
