Mr. David Ingram has been a volunteer in the Veteran community in Delta, British Columbia, and in Calgary, Alberta, for over 25 years. Having served with the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada, he now dedicates his free time to helping Veterans in need. Whether it is financial or medical help, attending local commemorative events, helping feed Veterans in need or just keeping his fellow Veterans company, Mr. Ingram is always available to lend a hand.
He has personally built accessible staircases and ramps as well as safety and convenience upgrades like bathroom grab handles and non-slip surfaces for Veterans’ homes. He also helps Veterans and their families with kitchen and household maintenance as well as yardwork, snow removal and minor vehicle maintenance.
Mr. Ingram worked with several organizations that support Veterans in the Calgary area, including consulting on finances and mission determination with the Directors of both the Calgary Veterans Food Bank and the Calgary Poppy Trust Fund.
He has also volunteered with The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #275 (Forest Lawn) since 2016 as Chair of the Poppy Campaign and speaks at local schools during Veterans’ Week.
Since 2016 Mr. Ingram has worked as the RCL Branch #275 (Forest Lawn) liaison to the 538 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron (Buffalo). In this capacity, he worked to have the cadets support guest Veterans during Remembrance Day, in the Poppy Campaign, and during dinners for Veterans.
