Mr. Stacey is a secondary school teacher whose commitment to remembrance and passion for teaching were combined to create a meaningful and relevant curriculum for young students. He was instrumental in having the story of Hong Kong Veterans of the Second World War included in a resource guide for British Columbia social studies teachers entitled Human Rights in the Asia Pacific, 1931–1945: Social Responsibility and Global Citizenship, which he helped develop in cooperation with Canadian Hong Kong Veteran Don McPherson. Since 2003, Mr. Stacey has expanded his sharing of the history of Hong Kong Veterans through workshop presentations across British Columbia. He has created national curriculum on Canadian Hong Kong Veterans, using primary and secondary sources in partnership with the Critical Thinking Consortium. In his own classroom, he brings in Hong Kong Veterans as guest speakers to share their stories with his students, and he encourages his students to write letters to local papers and enter national contests related to the Battle of Hong Kong. Mr. Stacey is a founding presenter at the International Human Rights Day Student Symposium, where he has shared the history of Hong Kong Veterans with more than 400 students since 2009, by presenting his "Asia-Pacific, 1941–1945" workshop. He has also presented his workshop to Veterans. He has been an active member of the Hong Kong Veterans Commemorative Association since 2007 and he serves as the Co-Educational Chair of the British Columbia Branch of the Association. Each year, he organizes the Kelowna Secondary School’s Remembrance Day ceremony. Mr. Stacey is a recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.
