Mr. Lawrence Summers is a Veteran of the Second World War and a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #255 Jasper Place for over 20 years. Over those years, he has served the Branch in different capacities, most notably as Poppy Chairman and as Service Officer.
As Branch Service Officer, he advocated for Veterans and their families and helped them seek assistance and benefits from Veterans Affair Canada. He made himself available to his peers at all hours and committed to assisting anywhere help was required. As Poppy Chairman he delivered poppy boxes, money cans and poppies to schools and businesses. Additionally, he made trips to the Edmonton Poppy Office to ensure activities were running smoothly, pick up supplies and return campaign receipts. All of this was done at no cost to Branch #255.
Mr. Summers participates in Colour Parties for the Royal Canadian Legion tributes at Veterans’ funerals, whether those Veterans were from Jasper Place Branch #255, another Branch, or even those who were not a member of the Legion.
