Martin MacKinnon

Mr. MacKinnon is a Second World War Merchant Mariner who served until his retirement in 1986. He is currently 1st Vice President of Branch 128 of the Royal Canadian Legion and was President from 1998 to 2005. Mr. MacKinnon is a Life Member and a recipient of The Royal Canadian Legion's Meritorious Service Medal. He participates in colour party activities and works on the Poppy Campaign. Mr. MacKinnon routinely visits with hospitalized Veterans and those who are confined in their home. He regularly visits schools for Remembrance Day ceremonies. He is also an ad hoc graves keeper for Veterans' graves in his community. Mr. MacKinnon has been a community volunteer over the years with his local fire department, the local food bank, the youth hockey program, and is a past president of the Cape Breton Naval Veterans" Association.
