St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec
Mr. Romuald (Mike) Miclette is a Canadian Armed Forces Veteran who was an infantryman with the Royal 22e Régiment and served with NATO in Cyprus. Mr. Miclette was Director of Recreation at The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34 (Arras Chambly) for several years where he organized fundraiser events. He planned visits to patients at Ste. Anne de Bellevue and is still actively involved in funerals and memorial services for Veterans at the Last Post Fund’s National Field of Honour in Pointe-Claire. He arranges transportation for the Branch’s evening events and outings as needed, and he is involved in the Poppy Campaign.
Mr. Miclette extended his time and support to another branch of The Royal Canadian Legion as well. When another branch had to move locations, he took it upon himself to contact a sponsor who took the branch under its wing, saving thousands of dollars for the move. Without his assistance, the branch would have been forced to close its doors, thus depriving a large number of Veterans of an important meeting place.
Mr. Miclette was President and Vice President of the Fort Saint-Jean Branch of the Association du Royal 22e Régiment and President of Branch 15 of the Canadian Airborne Forces Association. He is a founding member of the Canadian Association of Veterans in United Nations Peacekeeping (CAVUNP) and was the founding Vice President of the Major-General Alain R. Forand Chapter of that organization for six years. Of which he now serves at the Director of Special Projects and Public Relations. Mr. Miclette is often recognized for his dedication to NATO Veterans, The Royal Canadian Legion and his fellow Canadians.
