A Second World War Veteran, and an aero-engine mechanic by trade, Mr. Brennan served in the Far East as a crew member with the RCAF 435 Transport Squadron, where he often flew on supply-dropping missions over Burma. He is a longtime member of the Air Force Association, the Eastern Ontario Branch of the Burma Star Association, and he is also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He made a valuable contribution to the success of major VJ-Day ceremonies in both 1995 and 2005 and he continues to be actively involved with Veterans’ Week activities. Upon his retirement in 1988, Mr. Brennan immediately offered his services to the Rideau Veterans Home where he has devoted countless hours to the care and well-being of Veterans. He accompanied Veterans to medical appointments and their outings to their RCL Branches. He assisted a Veteran who had suffered a stroke with his pool therapy, kept his family informed and then provided comfort during his comrade’s final hours. Mr. Brennan is also the recipient of the Queen's Jubilee Medal.
