Stephen Gregory has an extensive history in support of the Canadian Armed Forces and Canadian Veterans, particularly through Canada Company. His outstanding efforts were most notable through Operation HUSKY 2013, a 22-day event that commemorated the Canadian campaign in Sicily where more than 23,000 Canadian military personnel first landed on the southern beaches of Pachino 70 years ago, on July 10, 1943. This extraordinary achievement in planning and organizing, almost single-handedly by Steve Gregory, took more than six years.
In July 2013 more than 300 Canadian and Italian civilians gathered on Bark West beach near Pachino to watch the raising of the Canadian flag in honour of the soldiers and to plant the first of many fallen soldier markers. The ceremony marked the beginning of the more than 20-day march, in the footsteps that Canadian soldiers took 70 years earlier through Grammichele, Piazza Armerina, Valguarnera, Leonforte, Assoro, Agira, Catenanuova, Adrano, Regalbuto and a number of other Sicilian towns. The grand finale of Operation Husky 2013 was an identical recreation of the 1943 live concert in Agira performed by the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada band. More than 400 people attended this event on July 30, 2013.
Mr. Gregory has a long history of lending support to the Canadian Armed Forces, serving and Veterans, and their families, as well as establishing a baseline and example for the future recognition through many initiatives. He is President of the Quebec Chapter of Canada Company, he has supported numerous initiatives for the soldiers of 2nd Field Regiment, RCA, Montréal, and he is a fundraiser/supporter of 3e Batterie d’artillerie de Montréal (3 BAM), a very active re-enactment group that fires 25-pounder guns for civic and military ceremonies. Additionally Mr. Gregory has conducted countless fund-raising events for children of soldiers going to summer camp, and various Canada Company and Fleurons Glorieux initiatives. He is a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, including active participation in the Poppy Campaign, which further demonstrates his commitment to helping Veterans and promoting remembrance.
