Stuart Liptay is nominated for his service with the Albert County Historical Society.
In 2014, he was instrumental in establishing the Victory Cannon Campaign at the Albert County Museum in Hopewell Cape, New Brunswick. The campaign was successful in raising the money to refurbish two First World War German field guns captured by Canadian battalions during the war.
He led the planning of the 100th anniversary event to commemorate the June 13th, 1915 sailing of New Brunswick’s 26th Battalion. He arranged for the attendance of Brigadier-General Peter Atkinson and a flypast by a C-15.
He designed and built a new museum exhibit resembling a trench. The exhibit entitled WWI County of Heroes officially opened in May 2018. He posts information and photographs of fallen Albert County First World War soldiers to the museum’s website to commemorate their deaths and to pay tribute to their sacrifice.
He was a major organizer of the Joyous Return commemorative event in July 2019 to commemorate the return of the 26th Battalion from overseas following the First World War. He is also highly involved in planning the re-dedication ceremony for the two refurbished First World War field guns to celebrate 100 years since they arrived in Hopewell Cape in 1920.
